Residency

Another Project Space

Ashfield, WA.

2017

Pine, paint (Dulux "Sea Sheppard, Blackest Brown, Buttercup Field"), skirting, shelf brackets, blue tape, found business card, found whiteboard marker, found doorstops, found office chair, perspex brochure wall mount holder and screws.

A body of work and site-responsive investigation made during a six week residency at Another Project Space. Another is an Artist-Run-Initiative situated in a industrial business area in Ashfield. Leased by Artsource, Another Project Space incorporates a gallery space utilised for short-term artist residencies and sixteen studio spaces occupied by Perth artists. Another has definitive architectural characteristics that gesture towards its previous life as a former Chrysler office building specifically the office spaces now turned into artist studios, resulting in a overlap between art-space and office tropes.

During this residency the former histories of the building and architectural elements (both subtle and distinct) were responded to. Each of the selected artworks resulted from specific personal observations made while situated at Another over the six week duration.
